667 - Nairn Falls
Today I experienced a waterfall straight out of a fairy tale.
Nairn Falls in Canada. What even is a Nairn? I Googled it and the source of the name is unidentifiable. No one knows. It just appeared in the 1950s sometime on geologic surveys. But I do know it sounds like the word fairy, which has a catchy ring to it. Nairn.
It’s a monster of a waterfall too, if I’m being honest. I’ve seen a lot of waterfalls in my day and this one felt the most powerful. Just an absolute roar of water pummeling through sheer granite rock at god knows what speed.
Legend has it that at peak flow, roughly 3,000 gallons of water run through this thing every minute. Imagine that.
Or don’t. I gotta pic right here:
A solid shot, I’d say. It’s been the wallpaper on my laptop for a week which is a good sign. Usually I’ll throw a pic up after I edit it for a day or two to sit with it before publishing it, but this one has stayed up. Which is a good sign.
If you’re stumbling upon this blog post somewhere on the internet because you’re thinking of going, I’d say do it. Go.
It’s like 1.5 miles of hiking through the woods for a massive payoff.
