621 - Awosting Falls

Today we visited the tallest waterfall in the world.

More cordially known as Awosting Falls, this waterfall was the exact waterfall filmed in the hit tv show, Severance. If you’ve seen the show, skip the next two paragraphs. If you haven’t, allow me to introduce you.

The show is essentially about a dude that works at a company that forces him to split his mind into two different people. Every time he enters the office, his mind resorts to his work half, and every time he leaves, his mind resorts to his personal half. Neither side of himself can recall what the other does, which allows the corporation to be completely private from the public.

The plot of the show is that his personal half realizes that he’s working for an evil corporation, so he must try to contact his work half to get him out before it’s too late.

Confused yet? Don’t be. All you need to know is that this waterfall was featured prominently in a pivotal episode of second two, and that it’s not actually the tallest waterfall in the world.

My battery wasn’t the tallest in the world either. I had precisely 7% battery left for this Apple TV+ adventure.

Luckily for us, the hike was only a mile or so, and it was mid-day lighting so I doubted I’d even line something up. But here I was, bringing the camera along for the ride anyways. You never know.

The waterfall ended up being just as epic in real life as it was in the show:

“The Roaring Past”

Taken with Sony a7rIII + Sony 12-24mm f/4 G

[ISO 100 ~ 24mm ~ f/7.1 ~ 1/3s]

Despite the (very) slight motion blur from the lack of tripod, I’d say the shot came out pretty solid. I also didn’t have much of a choice in the matter because my camera died after roughly 30 seconds of aligning. Oh, well.

Anyway. Almost didn’t include this adventure because it was so short and sweet but I figured I’d throw it in anyways. Praise Kier.
